Pupils from All Saints Catholic Primary School in Bootle were the latest children in Liverpool and Sefton to learn about the value of money through the Stepclever Every Penny Counts campaign.
Every Penny Counts, a partnership between Stepclever, Liverpool Hope University and the Personal Finance Education Group (pfeg), has been running since October and over 90 one hour workshops have been held to date.
After receiving special training from pfeg final year education students from Liverpool Hope University delivered the financial literacy workshops to Key Stage 2 pupils at Stepclever primary schools, as part of their professional practice module.
Stephen Collard, Stepclever Enterprise Project Officer said ‘These kinds of sessions are a vital part in teaching our children about money. During the sessions pupils learn how to handle money, where it comes from and the importance of saving.
By making it fun and doing things like giving every child there own little Stepclever money box we can begin to get them to understand the value of money and the importance of saving, and in today’s economic climate it can only be a good thing that the next generation learn how to handle money effectively from an early age.'
