Bringing enterprising ideas to life

Hamra Alam, Director of Hamra Lounge said:

“I have only recently become an Enterprise Ambassador for the Northwest and I am thrilled to be able to get involved and help to inspire young people to realise their passions and dreams. With a daughter of my own, I realise how important it is to encourage our children’s ambitions and inspire them to achieve all of their goals.

Enterprise is often overlooked as a viable career path by young people but organisations like Enterprise UK and Stepclever are here to demonstrate that the tools are available to help these young people get started on their very own enterprising journey.”

Stepclever in association with Enterprise UK have organised a number of opportunities at schools in North Liverpool in order to launch their enterprise pack entitled, ‘Bringing Ideas to Life’. Every Notre Dame student in year 7, 8 or 9 has received this Stepclever enterprise pack which looks at business, careers and life choices for young people.

Lorna Rogers, Schools Project Manager for Stepclever said:

“Stepclever is all about unlocking the potential in young people and has invested in a resource pack to help pupils across North Liverpool and South Sefton plan for their future. It is hoped that young passionate entrepreneurs can relate to pupils in the Stepclever area and motivate them when thinking about their future.”

Alam spoke to the pupils about her enterprising journey that has taken her from Fashion College in South Yorkshire all the way to showcasing her collection at Dubai Fashion Week and being commissioned to design clothing for Arabic royalty. Displaying a number of her beautiful and intricate designs, Alam discussed her experiences as an entrepreneur in the fashion industry and answered questions from the students.

Sarah Bevan Fischer, Head of Northwest Enterprise for Enterprise UK, the nation’s Enterprise Charity said:

“We are delighted with Hamra’s commitment to campaigning for young people’s enterprise. Young people really are the future and it is vital for us to encourage these budding entrepreneurs to succeed in whatever path they choose.”
