Our local Business Development Advisors can provide advice and support with applications for Stepclever Investment funding.
There are two specific funds for both business starts and existing businesses in the Stepclever area: the Discretionary Fund and Gateway to Growth Fund.

Discretionary Fund
- This is a one off payment which is awarded by the Investment Steering Group Committee.
- This fund is available for existing businesses who wish to develop a new idea and individuals starting out in business.
- The fund welcomes applications which will lead to job creation within the Stepclever areas.
- The amounts payable are based on the merit of each application.
- Applicants are not required to match any amounts funded.
- Investments will be awarded against one off revenue costs.
Gateway to Growth Fund
Investments are available towards the costs of plant machinery and equipment for SME’s (employing less than 250) and Inward Investors creating jobs within the Stepclever area
- Business Start funding is available for both employed and unemployed individuals who wish to start their own business.
- Business Expansion funding is available for firms operating within the Stepclever area and also new investors embarking on projects that will create new jobs in the area.
The business expenditure which can be assisted includes:
- Fixed investment such as:
- buildings: internal construction works, extension, improvement and adaptations, security and associated site works,
- plant and equipment for production including materials handling (not vehicles).
- IT hardware and associated software, office furniture and equipment
- Project related revenue expenditure such as:
- Certain Revenue costs associated with starting a new business or growing an existing SME. (Due to State Aid restrictions the project is unable to provide assistance for rent ,business rates, and other operational costs such as gas/electricity/water.
