What we’re doing in…
…Sefton
In the Stepclever areas of Linacre & Derby, we’re seeking to identify the needs of businesses and responding to them through a menu of appropriate interventions.
The key focus for the coming months in businesses in deprived neighbourhoods – focusing upon areas with smaller shopping parades that suffer from high crime rates and a poor physical environment.
Stepclever will work to identify needs and implement responses including:-
• Crime prevention advice and support to businesses to improve security measures
• Proactive programme to tackle derelict shop frontages to improve the visual appearance of areas
• Provide trade waste advice and waste enforcement measures used where necessary.
…Liverpool
Across the wards of Kirkdale, Everton, Anfield and County we will be developing relationships to deliver a range of services to businesses and local people.
This part of the programme has been put together out of direct consultation with local businesses, elected members, Merseyside Police and other partners, and focuses on interventions tackle crime, safety, environmental blight, youth related nuisance and localised employment opportunities.
We will:
• Deliver youth engagement to combat ASB and nuisance behaviour at key retail corridors within the wards
• Engage with local social enterprises to deliver new and improved recycling services
• Engage with local social enterprise to tackle environmental “grot-Spots” identified across the targeted wards
• Work with and direct a bespoke policing team, deploying officers to key locations throughout the business community, responding directly to information from local business on the ground
• Work with local entrepreneurs and business leaders to develop a support package to encourage and mentor new and fledgling businesses.
